About Abby
Abby Burrus is a Christian author who writes for the souls who feel like strangers in this world. She also works with horses, including her two ponies, Shorty and Birds. While a reader and writer of all different types of fiction, Abby's favorite genre remains Christian fantasy. Her favorite color is purple (who could have guessed?), but she loves all things beauty and color. When not writing (or riding a horse), you can find her drinking coffee, eating dark chocolate, laughing with family, and, of course, reading.
Who Am I
I fell in love with reading when I realized it was for stories. I was the kid who became known by name to the library staff because of the piles of books I would check out. But often, I was forced to settle for books that weren’t what I wanted, or weren’t very good, because that’s all that was available to me. (Anyone else?)
Discovering Christian fantasy stories was like discovering a whole new world that spoke to my soul. Storytelling that blended deep themes and engaging plots, truths and swords, broken characters and beautiful worlds. I fell in love with the genre and never looked back.
In fact, I fell in love so hard that I had a crazy idea: I should write my own stories like the ones I loved. I put pen to paper (literally), started writing, and I haven’t stopped since. I’ve completed multiple short stories and novels, joined the Young Writer’s Workshop, and published two short stories.
In short, I’m a storyteller. I love stories. (And not just those of the Christian fantasy kind.) I believe stories are powerful. I believe that God is the ultimate storyteller. My gift of storytelling is surrendered to Him and for Him.
When I’m not writing, my other passion is working with horses. I own two ponies, Birds and Shorty, and you will hear about them if you stick around ;) I love dark chocolate, coffee, and being outdoors. I’m a bit of a rebel overall and very independently minded, hence why I indie published.
What Do I Write?
I've written in a variety of genres. If I like it, I'll write it. But my first love is Christian fantasy, and that's mainly what I write. All of my stories, regardless of genre, are kept free of cursing, gore, excessive violence, or spice.
How I Hope to Bless You:
I aim to write authentic, beauty and truth filled fantasy stories for the souls who feel like strangers in this world. I also aim to support my fellow writers who do the same.
So my hope is that my stories are a respite for you: a rest in an exhausting world, a reminder of hope when you despair, a glimpse of light in your darkness. But more than that: I hope and pray that it points you back to the One who is your rest, your hope, your light. Your Savior. Because my stories will fade away. But His never will.

With all of my stories, I want to be a blessing to you. I want to give you something good, or better yet, point you to our good God. I want this to be a place of refreshment on the journey, and me, a companion as we walk this long road together. Because in the end, this isn't our true home. We're Christian from Pilgrim's Progress, we're Jewel the Unicorn longing for our true home, we're the Psalmist crying out "How long, Lord?"
